What is a Duress Code?
Duress Code is used in an emergency situation when a person is forced to arm or disarm the alarm system. The code will then send a silent signal to the monitoring station, pager or voice dialer, without triggering the siren and scaring off the intruder. For instance, in a break-in or a hostage situation where the owner is coerced into disarming the alarm, the owner can safely ask for help without appearing suspicious and escalating the situation.
