Computer Monitors
The monitor is used in a CCTV system to display videos or images captured by the security cameras. There are 3 main types of monitors:
CRT Monitor (Cathode Ray Tube)
CRT monitors look like old-fashioned televisions. It contains an electron gun at the back, which fire electrons through a vacuum and eventually produces a picture on the screen. This process uses a lot of energy, produces a significant amount of heat and emits UV lights. Moreover, the monitor itself is bulky and heavy. These are the reasons why CRT monitors are no longer popular in today’s market.
LCD Monitor (Liquid Crystal Display)
LCD monitors produce an image on the screen by shining light through a liquid crystal substance. This process draws less energy, does not emit UV light and produces less heat. However, the disadvantages of LCD monitors include limited viewing angle and slow response times.
LED Monitor (Light Emitting Diode)
LED monitors developed from LCD technology. LED backlight replaces the use of cold cathode backlight, as seen in LCD monitors. This technology saves energy, emits less heat and can be further developed to product 3D images. Hence, LED monitors are very popular in the market.
