Types of Video Recorder
The main types of video recorders can be divided into:
- DVR (Digital Video Recorder) – used with analog system
- HVR (Hybrid Video Recorder) – used with both analog and IP systems
- NVR (Network Video Recorder) – used with IP system
DVR, HVR and NVR use a similar recording technique, where events are recorded digitally onto the hard disk (HDD). These systems have the ability to connect to the internet as well.
Hard disks used in CCTV systems should be at least a server grade. Due to long hours of operation, we recommend high quality hard disks to record video footage all day. To increase storage space (or the number of days HDD can record), users may have to decrease the quality/resolution of image being recorded.
